“A vile farce, with no merit,” says Donald Trump after his unconditional dismissal in a hush money case | World news

President-elect Donald Trump on Friday sharply criticized the Biden-Harris administration for allegedly waging a “witch hunt” against him and said he would appeal his verdict in a secret money trial in which he was granted unconditional release despite being convicted of 34 felonies.

In a post on social media platform TruthSocial: Donald Trump claimed that Democrats, with the help of the Biden-Harris Justice Department, spent millions of dollars over six years to launch a “pathetic, un-American” witch hunt against him and lost after he was granted unconditional release in his case.

He added that the charges against him were “completely baseless, illegal and false” and alleged that his unconditional release proved that there had been no valid case against him.

“This result alone proves that, as all lawyers and experts have said, THERE IS NO CASE, NEVER HAS BEEN, and this entire fraud fully deserves to be REJECTED,” he said.

Trump also announced in his post his intention to appeal the “hoax” case, maintaining that the trial was biased: “As the American people found out that in this ‘case’ there was no crime, no harm, no evidence, no facts, no Law , only a highly conflicted judge, a key witness, disbarred, disgraced, serial perjurer and criminal election interference.”

Dismissing the jury that convicted him, he stated that the real jury were the people who voted for him and made him the 47th President of the United States.

Trump’s hush money trial

On Friday, Judge Juan Merchan imposed an unconditional sentence on Donald Trump after he was convicted by a 34-count jury, citing protections afforded to the office of president. Under this ruling, Trump will not have to serve any prison time or pay any financial penalties.

“However, the protection (of the presidency) is a legal mandate that, under the rule of law, this court must respect and uphold. However, despite the extraordinary scope of these protections, one of the rights they do not provide is the right to have the jury’s verdict expunged,” Merchan said in sentencing.

The case, which has been ongoing since 2016, involved Trump’s alleged payment of $1,30,000 to an adult film star during his first presidential campaign to prevent her from going public with allegations of an affair a decade earlier.
