Los Angeles’ emergency services and animal hospitals are filled with injured animals as intense wildfires hit the city. Animal welfare organizations have rescued many animals with various injuries and burns near the fire areas. People with serious effects of the fire, such as smoke inhalation and dehydration, were transported to veterinary intensive care units. This includes species ranging from pets to farm animals, including dogs, cats, goats and pigs.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) received over 50 animals under temporary care from displaced owners. Staff at facilities like spcaLA offer these animals veterinary exams, treats, and interactive toys to keep their spirits up. Some institutions, such as Pasadena Humanitarianthey also care for wild animals affected by the fires, treating them in the hopes of releasing them back into the wild once the fires are extinguished.
