Arlington, Texas: Timberview HS shooting victim shot again, killed 4 years later

Zacchaeus Selby-Mukum was 15 years old when he was wounded in the Timberview High School shooting. Police said a 19-year-old man was shot again Monday evening and died.

ARLINGTON, Texas – A North Texas teenager wounded in the 2021 shooting at Timberview High School has died after being shot again four years later in Arlington, police said.

The Arlington Police Department said officers responded to an apartment building in the 2400 block of Laurelwood Drive on Monday around 5:50 p.m. on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Zacchaeus Selby-Mukum lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died, according to APD.

Arlington police confirmed Selby is the same person as one of the three victims shot and injured in the 2021 Timberview High School shooting. It was unclear whether the 2021 high school shooting and Monday’s shooting were related.

Timberview High School shooter Timothy Simpkins was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Simpkins later received two additional years for a charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place.

Arlington police said they had no suspect information in connection with Monday’s shooting and no arrests had been made. According to APD, witnesses told officers they heard an argument before the shots were fired.

APD says the motive for Monday’s shooting is unclear, but detectives have not ruled out the possibility of a “high-risk act” being involved.
