Kanpur: An incident of violence was reported on social media in Kalyanpur area in which some youths brutally attacked a student, forced him to walk near the railway tracks and removed his clothes. They then pelted him with stones, causing head injuries. Based on the circulating footage, the police are searching for the attackers.
The incident took place in Kalyanpur, where the victim, a student Auraiya studying in the city, had visited her friend’s flat. As he was returning to his room, he was allegedly intercepted by a group of youths who assaulted him and dragged him towards the railway tracks, where they forcibly stripped him and hit him with a stone, causing head injuries. The video shows the student begging for mercy. The situation was finally brought under control when passers-by noticed it and intervened to save him. According to the student, the attack followed an earlier altercation with the student, who was allegedly planning the attack with his colleagues. ACP Kalyanpur Abhishek Pandey said that the incident of beating up a student came to the fore. “The police will accept the student’s application and file a report against the accused for further action.” ACP further stated.
