A man charged with attempted murder after stabbing a social worker in Orion Township

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald has charged Gul Nabi Rahmati, 34, of Dearborn Heights, with two felonies, including assault with intent to murder, for the stabbing attack on Zubair Mansuori in Orion Township.

The incident took place on January 22 when Rahmati arrived at Mansuori’s house and they met outside.

Rahmati then allegedly stabbed Mansuori multiple times before attempting to attack another man who came to his aid.

Authorities reported that he fled the scene and later turned himself in to police in Dearborn Heights.

Mansuori is a caseworker for the nonprofit Samaritas. Rahmati was one of his clients.

Rahmati is charged with assault with intent to murder, punishable by up to life in prison, and assault with a dangerous weapon, punishable by up to four years in prison.
