Bowen Varsity sets up a panel to expose student killers

The management of Bowen University, IWO, Osun State, has said it has formed a three-member committee that will defer to the police and help in unmasking the assailants involved in the recent killing of a student of the institution.

Earlier, the OSUN State Police Command said its detectives had begun an investigation into discovering the identities of those who stabbed to death a 200-level Bowen University student, identified simply as Paul.

Spokesperson of the command, Yemisi Opalola, who disclosed this, said the incident was reported to the IWO Divisional headquarters last Wednesday at about 10 p.m.

Opalola also said that the deceased was a student at the Department of Computer Science at the university until his death.

“On 22/01/2025 at about 10:55 p.m., one Akindoyo Joseph, CSO, Bowen University, Iwo, arrived at the Iwo Police Division Headquarters, IWO and reported that one Paul Thinker, a 200-level computer science student was inflicted on Unknown person or persons – Opalola said.

Speaking on the management’s efforts to investigate the incident and expose the perpetrators, the University’s Public Relations Officer, Havillah Sam Aliyu, in a message sent to MetroPunchpraised the quick response of the police when called by management.

Aliyu also said that family members of the deceased student held a meeting with the management last Thursday, adding that normalcy is “gradually returning to the campus, although the atmosphere remains one of cautious hope as we wait for Swift Justice for the perpetrator(s) of this dastardly act. “

He further said, “The management is satisfied with the quick response and professionalism displayed by the police, and we are optimistic that the culprits will be apprehended soon.

“While police are investigating, a three-member committee was immediately formed during the emergency Senate meeting on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This committee, with the full support of management, is tasked with gathering as much information as possible and providing it to the police.

“Management has taken proactive steps to enhance security by increasing manpower and enlisting the assistance of police and other sister agencies to increase patrols in and around the campus.”
