By publishing his findings on Friday, the coroner recommended that the General Council of the Church of the Chopper would introduce guidelines requiring the chopper to review the patient’s medical history before treatment.

The investigation heard that she had informed the chopper about her last hospital visit and computed tomography, but the chopper did not ask for any medical documentation before continuing treatment.

Within four weeks, Mrs. Kowalczyk underwent many chiropractic sessions. During the meeting on October 16, 2021, she suddenly experienced a serious dizziness, double vision and tingling in her right hand and foot. She also had difficulty speaking.

The chopper advised her to turn to medical assistance, but she would not go to the hospital immediately. Later on the same day, paramedics treated her at home and after they were told that dizziness and migraines were common after chiropractic corrections, diagnosed her migraine.

The investigation was said that the attending doctor “was not aware that the symptoms of stroke could sometimes temporarily disappear.” Mrs. Kowalczyk was finally taken to the hospital Queen Elizabeth in Gateshead, where she died three days later.

The coroner issues preventing a future death report

The coroner formally registered the death of Mrs. Kowalczyk as the death of the hospital, but he prevented the future death report to North East Ambulance Service and General Chiropractic Council.

Benyounes expressed the concern that the chopper did not consider obtaining medical records Mrs. Kowalczyk before treatment, despite the importance of her recent hospital visit and medical examinations.

She noticed that even the updated consent form from the British Chiropractic Association lacked a response so that the circuits would ask for medical documentation before evaluation.
