Residents run away when shepherds kill five farmers in the ONDA community – Nigeria – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

The attackers suspected of shepherds killed five farmers after attacking the Ajegunle-Powerline community in Akure North Local Government in ONDO.

The suspects allegedly attacked arable fields in the community, suddenly fired shots in the air and killed the victims.

According to sources in the community of the victims that came from Plateau and Kaduna, they worked as workers on a farm, when they were killed by attackers.

By telling how the incident occurred, one of the farmers revealed that such attacks were repeated, with the constant invasion of their farm field, but the latest was the most terrifying due to the registered death.

The farmer who gave his name as Olowilafe maintained that security agencies were informed about previous attacks on arable areas, but nothing was done to stop criminals.

He said: “In this way (shepherds) usually come to disturb and destroy our crops, and we reported them to the government, and even to security agencies, but these security agencies have not taken any positive actions to stop the fulaty actions of shepherds in our arable fields .

“These Fulani shepherds just entered arable fields on Tuesday, when we worked and started shooting sporadically in the air and killed five people during the attack.”

Olowilafe said that many farmers in the community escaped from farms for fear of killing, emphasizing that constant clashes and destruction of economic crops became disturbing.

The farmer, however, called on the Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and security agencies for intervention and saving them from attacks allegedly committed by shepherds.

The worker, identified as Fidelis Daniel, who also talked about this incident, said: “They arrived around 15:00 on Tuesday to destroy our farms, and we warned them not to come to our arable fields, but would not listen, but not listened, But they didn’t listen, but they didn’t listen and when they came, they started shooting.

“I was also in the farm when the incident occurred. I just heard the sound of the weapon and immediately ran home. Even God saved me; Otherwise they would kill me.

“Suddenly they arrived with a weapon to destroy our crops and killed five people – three from the state of the plateau and two from the state of the cadle.”

Meanwhile, the remains of the victims were deposited in the morgue of the University of Medical Sciences (Upessedth), Akuure complex, through the men of hunters and vigilantes Association at Akure North Local Government in the state.

Police Public Relations (PPRO) in the state, FunMilayo Odunlamo-Osanyana, who confirmed the incident, said, however, “there was an attack on the community and the police were still investigating. But I can’t confirm the number of people killed. “
