2006 Mumbai bombing by train – 7/11 by train train: people died, but innocent should not hang, says the accused

After six and a half months of marathon interrogations, the Supreme Court in Bombay on Friday reserved its decision on various petitions for confirmation of death and appeal lodged by the accused in the Blast Train Blast case in Mumbai 7/11. The court began to recognize petitions in July 2024.And the lawyers reminded how the division bench sat almost every day to end the extensive matter.

The bench of the judges Anil Kilor and Shyam Chandak, on the last day of the trial, said: “If any of the accused wants to say something, we can let them for two minutes.” The accused were connected by video conferences from the Yivewad prison in Pune, as well as from the central prisoners in Amravati, Nashik and Nagpur.

The accused No. 12, at the heating of Hussain from the Central Nagpur prison, stated that the case against him was false and that he was innocent. “I’m not going to speak for everyone, but I speak for myself. In this case I am not involved. I didn’t even know these other people, probably one before arrest. I have no role in this and I have suffered for the last 19 years. People lost their lives on a train train, but revenge should not mean that innocent people are hanged, “he said.

Hussain is to be one of the bomb growers and was sentenced to death by the first instance court. Extremely judged Hussain’s confession, to which India obtained todayHe was part of the case of the prosecutor’s office.

Supporters of Yuga Mohit Chaudhry and Payoshi Roy, appearing for all 12 accused, argued that unique confession was unacceptable and contaminated by torture. The lawyers wondered how the accused did not confess for over three months, but suddenly everyone confessed when draconian control over organized crime (MCOCA) was appointed, which means that religions were granted to the police. After recalling Mcoc, investigators registered 11 denominations.

During the trial on Friday, when no other accused spoke to Hussain, the bench thanked everyone and said: “closed for the sentence.”

On July 11, 2006, the explosions of RDX in seven locations in the suburban railway network in Mumbai, in 11 minutes, 189 people and wounded 827 people commuting to work.

While 13 accused were arrested, 15 others were recognized as sought after, some allegedly in Pakistan. The anti -terrorist team (ATS) caused MCOC and UAPA, folding the Chargesh sheet in November 2006.

In 2015, the first instance court convicted 12 people:

  • Five were sentenced to death.
  • Seven were imprisoned life.

According to the law, the state government then petitioned in the Supreme Court in search of confirmation of death sentences. The accused also appealed to question their beliefs and judgments.

After nine years, a special bench was created last year to consider the appeals and confirmation of the death sentence after Etheshaam Siddiqui, one of the convicts facing the death penalty, submitted an application to the Supreme Court. The case has remained in progress since 2015, and the interrogations transferred between 11 different benches due to the volume of documents and evidence.

The special prosecutor Raja Thakare argued for almost three months, calling on the court to confirm the death penalty, claiming that it was “the rarely rare matter.”

Lawyers representing the accused argued for over four months, indicating the gaps in the case of the prosecutor’s office. They also cited an investigation carried out later by the criminal unit in Bombay, which led to the apparitions about the involvement of the Mudjahsideen Indian (IM). They claimed that Sadiq, Sadiq, confessed that he was responsible for the explosions of trains. Defense lawyers also emphasized that he had been accused for bars for over 18 years without being out of prison.
