A woman dead after a shooting in Upcountry Maui

Pakalani, Maui (Hawaiinewsnow) – a woman does not live after a shooting in Upcountry Maui.

Maui police said that the incident began around 15:45 in Pukalani, where the officer met a suspect who apparently held the knife.

A spokesman for the Police Department said that Central Dispatch received a report on abuse from his place of residence in Noho Place.

“Around 15:54 officers came to the scene of the incident, where they encountered a woman armed with a weapon that was recovered,” said police spokeswoman Maui Alan Pico.

According to Pico, one officer opened fire, killing the suspect. It is not clear, but exactly what led to shooting. The officer involved in shooting was placed on administrative leave, which is a standard procedure.

Pico said no officer was injured.

The incident remains in the study and no further information is available.

MPD said that next week there would be a formal briefing of the incident.
