The incident at the Police Station causes man to appear in court

The man appeared in court accused of attempted murder and six other crimes after three officers were injured at the police station on Friday.

Alexander Stephen Dighton, 27, from Llantisant in Rhondda Cinnon Taf, is also accused of assaulting a lifeguard, assault, arson, criminal damage, having offensive weapons and having a knife.

He represented himself in the court Mertyr Tydfil Magistrates on Monday and confirmed his name and date of birth at a short hearing.

Mr. Digton was arrested in custody until the next hearing, which is to take place on March 3 at Cardiff Crown.

The incident took place just before 19:00 GMT on January 31, when the police claim that the man began to destroy cars at the police station.

In a statement, the police said that after the officers questioned the man.

Three officers were injured, from two taken to hospital and treated for injuries.

Both have been released now.
