Singh came from the village of Bhavnor in Hoshiarpur. According to officials, the residents and his family members blocked the Talwar-Una road in Adda Bhavnor.

They also demanded financial assistance for the Singh family. Later, Dasuya Mla Karamvir Singh Ghuman arrived at a protest and provided financial assistance for his family, as well as private work for his wife.
