Series: The 94th game saw the Bears lead 58-29-6. The teams have split the results in their last six games, with the Bears winning three in a row before that. The Bears have won the last three games in Arizona, including the famous first matchup of that streak – the 2006 game “The Bears are who we thought they were.” The Bears and Cardinals are the oldest franchise in the NFL, lasting 103 years, 11 months and seven days. The Cardinals played in Chicago until 1959, then moved to St. Louis from 1960-87 and then to Arizona.

Trainers: Bears coach Matt Eberflus is 14-27 in his third season and 1-0 against the Cardinals, with the victory coming 27-16 last year at Soldier Field on Christmas Eve. The Bears are 3-17 in road games under Eberflus.

Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon is 8-17 in his second season as coach and 4-8 at home. He’s 0-1 against the Bears. Gannon was the Eagles’ defensive coordinator when they went to the Super Bowl in 2022 before being hired as Arizona’s coach.

Last week: D’Andre Swift broke off a 56-yard run in the third quarter and Caleb Williams led the Bears to a 15-12 lead in the fourth quarter, but they lost to Washington 18-15 on a 52-yard Hail Mary TD pass from Jayden Daniels to Noah Brown, one deflected by Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. The loss ended the Bears’ three-game winning streak

The Cardinals won their second straight game, overcoming a 27-18 fourth-quarter deficit in Miami to win on Chad Ryland’s 34-yard field goal 28-27. Kyler Murray passed for 307 yards on 26 of 36 with two TDs to lead to a rally. This came after a 17-15 victory over the Chargers when they scored a 32-yard Ryland field goal as time expired.

Game: A matchup of mentor and student while Gannon was the Colts’ defensive backs coach from 2018 to 2020 on Eberflus’ defense. The Bears are trying to overcome a devastating loss to keep pace in the NFC North, while the Cardinals are trying to maintain their lead in the NFC West. Arizona is tied 4-4 with the Seahawks and the 49ers with the Rams at halftime of the penultimate game. The Bears face another mobile passing threat as Murray has 11 pass TDs, three interceptions and has completed at least one pass TD in every game. He has 344 yards rushing.

Note: The Bears defense has held its last 13 opponents to 21 points or fewer, the longest such streak in the NFL. …Last year, TE Cole Kmet had four catches for 107 yards against the Cardinals. … Murray’s three winning tackles and fourth quarterback lead the NFL this season. … Swift has 533 yards from scrimmage since Week 4, which is second-most among all running backs over that time. … Bears punter Tory Taylor is second in the NFL in punts knocked down within 10 yards with eight targets. … The Bears defense leads the NFL in red zone efficiency. They have a league-best red zone touchdown rate of 36.8% (7 of 19) and rank first in red zone points allowed with 3.74 points allowed. … The defense leads the NFL in passer rating at 76.2. …Murray needs three TD passes to tie Charlie Johnson (108) for third place in franchise history. …James Conner needs two TD runs to go eight games as Cardinals with multiple TD runs, good for first in franchise history. … Arizona’s offensive line hasn’t allowed a sack in three straight games.

Next week: The Bears will host New England at home on Sunday, November 10 at 12:00 p.m., and the Cardinals will host the New York Jets on November 10 at 3:25 p.m.
