Salman Khan death threat: The Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested a Bandra man for threatening Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and demanding payment of Rs 2 crore. The accused was placed in one-day police custody.

The Mumbai traffic police received an anonymous message on Tuesday in which the sender threatened to kill the 58-year-old actor if he did not pay Rs 2 crore, an official said. Worli police have registered a case against an unidentified person and initiated an investigation.

Police on Wednesday arrested a man, identified as Azam Mohammed Mustafa, a resident of Bandra (East), for allegedly threatening Khan with the latest death threat and demanding Rs 2 crore from him.

A vegetable seller from Jamshedpur was arrested

On Wednesday, officials said Mumbai police investigating Salman Khan’s threatening messages had arrested a man from Jamshedpur. The accused was identified as Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin (24), a vegetable seller from Jamshedpur.

Last week, a threatening message was received on the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline demanding Rs 5 crore from the actor, prompting the police to register a case and initiate an investigation. The police traced the Jharkhand number and teams were deployed to nab the accused, the official said, adding that another team visited Guwahati.

Earlier this week, a 20-year-old man was arrested in Noida district of Uttar Pradesh in connection with death threats against the actor and Zeeshan Siddiqui, MLA and son of NCP leader (Ajit Pawar) Baba Siddique, who was shot dead on October 12. The Mumbai Police said it had arrested Gufran Khan and placed him in transit custody. The accused was identified as Mohammed Tayyab alias Gurfan Khan and was arrested from Sector 39 of Noida.

Death of Baba Siddique

Zeeshan’s father Baba Siddique, a three-time MLA, former minister of state in Maharashtra and a close friend of Salman Khan, was shot dead outside his son’s office. Later, Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang claimed responsibility for his death. The threats against Zeeshan came weeks after his father’s murder.

In April this year, two men came on a motorcycle and fired four shots outside Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence, Galaxy Apartments. After the incident, the attackers quickly fled the scene.
