Wadena man charged with assault, arson and pursuit

OTTER TAIL COUNTY, Minn. (Valley News Live) – A Wadena man faces multiple charges after authorities say he assaulted a woman, started a fire and led them on a chase in Otter Tail County this month.

Bail for Sean Weber has been set at $45,000. He was charged with two counts of domestic assault, escape and arson. If found guilty on all charges, he faces more than 13 years in prison.

Court documents show that on December 4, the woman called police to report the assault.

She told officers Weber became angry when she tried to break up with him. Court documents say the woman said Weber grabbed a torch and set the bed on fire.

Court documents say Weber followed the woman into the kitchen, grabbed a hot pan of sloppy joe mixture and poured it over her head before punching her twice in the face.

The woman fled to her car, but Weber used his vehicle to block her. That’s when law enforcement arrived on the scene. Officers ordered Weber out of the vehicle, but he drove off at 85 miles per hour.

The chase lasted six miles before officers used batons to end it.

Weber’s next hearing will be on December 30.
