The poll gives Yadira Caraveo a slight edge in a close race against Gabe Evans

U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo has gained a slight edge over Republican opponent Gabe Evans in Colorado’s tightest congressional contest less than a week before the Nov. 5 election. – according to a survey published on Wednesday.

However, her advantage – less than 2 percentage points – was within the poll’s margin of error.

The latest data from an Emerson College Polling survey of 485 voters in the 8th Congressional District north of Denver shows that 47.5% of voters support freshman Democrat and pediatricianversus 45.8% favoring Evans, the state representative who is an Army veteran and former Arvada Police Officer. He conducted the survey domestic company for The Hill and Fox31/Channel 2 in Denver.

Nearly 7 percent remained undecided on what is considered one of the closest congressional races in the country. The poll was conducted Oct. 24-26 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4%.

There was limited public voting in the race this year. The latest survey results were released nearly a month after Emerson conducted a similar survey in late September that found Caraveo and Evans are 44% tiedwith almost 12% being undecided at the time. Candidates do they debated each other twice since the previous survey was conducted.

As in the case of wide gender divide between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race – where men prefer Trump and women prefer Harris – Caraveo won more votes from women, according to a poll last week, while Evans is demanding more loyalty from men.

“There is a significant gender gap separating the two congressional candidates; Evans leads men 55% to 42%, while Caraveo leads women 52% to 37%,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said in a statement.

The poll found that 8th District voters overwhelmingly disapprove of the job President Joe Biden is doing (53.6% to 39.7%); favor Harris over Trump by less than a percentage point (48.5% for Harris, 47.9% for Trump); and consider the economy to be by far the most important issue, with 33.8% rating it as the highest.

Among Emerson poll respondents, 28.7% identified as Democrats, 34.4% as Republicans and 36.9% as unaffiliated voters.
