Two people are dead and two injured in a New Year’s Eve crash on I-5 in Willows

Two people died accident near Willows Tuesday night – New Year’s Eve, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Authorities said the crash occurred around 9:18 p.m., when John Haidar, 20, of Simi Valley, California, was driving a 2021 Dodge pickup truck northbound on Interstate 5, south of County Road 68. CHP says for unknown reasons Haidar crossed the median, overcorrected and entered the southbound lane, colliding with a 2006 Ford pickup truck. year.

The Ford was driven by Steven Fetscher, 70, of Paso Robles, passengers: Nancy Fetscher, 66, also of Paso Robles, and Cathlene Lewis, 64, of Torrance.

Haidar and Nancy Fetscher were extricated from their vehicles and airlifted to Enloe Hospital with serious injuries, according to the CHP. However, unfortunately, the CHP pronounced Steven Fetscher and Cathlene Lewis dead at the scene.

The CHP said it has determined that drugs or alcohol were not a factor in this crash.
