Mamata Banerjee’s close associate Babla Sarkar shot dead by bikers: ‘From the beginning of TMC…’

In a shocking incident, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s close aide, Dulal Sarkar, popularly known as Babla, was shot dead in broad daylight by bike-borne attackers on Thursday.

The incident, which took place in Jhaljhalia More area of ​​Malda district in West Bengal, was captured on CCTV camera.

In a video shared by PTI, Sarkar, a TMC councilor, can be seen running for his life as several people approached him while he was sitting in a shop.

According to the police, the man was shot several times in the head at close range by attackers on bicycles.

Babla was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.

The motive for the crime has not yet been established. Police have launched an investigation and further investigations are ongoing.

In a post on X, Mamata Banerjee wrote that she was sad and extremely shocked when she came to know about the incident.

“My close associate and very popular leader, Babla Sarkar, was assassinated today. Since the inception of the Trinamool Congress, he (and his wife Chaitali Sarkar) have worked hard for the party and Babla was also elected as a councilor,” said the West Bengal CM.

Further stating that the culprits should be identified immediately, Mamata added, “I am so shocked and sad that I don’t know how to convey my condolences to the bereaved family. May God give Chaitala the strength to survive and fight the battle.”
