Stages: MRT offers ‘Frankenstein’ to keep Halloween spirits alive in November – Lowell Sun

Halloween is today, but the spooky time continues in November when Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein runs Nov. 8-24 at Lowell’s Merrimack Repertory Theater.

Merrimack Repertory Theater (MRT) brings David Catlin’s play to life in partnership with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

“It goes without saying: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is a must-see in this spooky season. With electrifying performances, stunning design and a powerful narrative, the film bursts with Broadway-caliber magic,” said Liz Eichler of the League of Cincinnati Theatres.

Catlin’s adaptation explains not only the fictional history of the novel, but also the real events surrounding its creation.

Prepare for an adventure into the heart of darkness with this fresh interpretation of the legendary tale. When darkness falls in the theater, you will ask yourself: what makes us monsters?

Whether you are a long-time fan of Shelley’s work or are discovering the story for the first time, this production offers an incredible mix of love, laughter and thrilling moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is an extraordinary theatrical experience, balancing on the border between good and evil.

“Frankenstein has stood the test of time because of its great questions about life and the nature of humanity. We look forward to sharing this classic with MRT audiences and local students as part of our student matinee program,” says Courtney Sale, executive artistic director of Nancy Donahue.

“Anyone who has ever been a fan or who thinks they would like to learn more about Frankenstein and his monster, this is the version for them,” said director Brian Isaac Phillips, artistic director and general manager of production for the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

“Frankenstein” features a cast of five actors playing different roles: John Patrick Hayden, Jasimine Bouldin, Alexis Bronkovic, Jay Wade and Billy Chace.
