Tripura girl allegedly raped by relative during family function at home: Police

Police said that after the incident, the accused was abused by the girl’s family members, after which he was taken to hospital

Police said an eleven-year-old girl was raped by a relative during a family function at her house on Saturday at Kakraban in Tripura’s Gomati district.

The accused, the husband of the girl’s paternal aunt, allegedly raped her while she was sleeping in her room. Another aunt of the survivor noticed the incident and notified the other household members.

Following the incident, the accused was abused by his family members and was later admitted to a local hospital from where he was referred to the Gomati district hospital.

“The case has been registered. We haven’t arrested him yet because he is in hospital. Maybe he will be discharged from the hospital on Monday,” said Kakraban police station superintendent Raju Bhowmik.
