Police are hunting the killers of three sons of an Anambra native doctor

The Anambra State Police Command has said that a manhunt has been launched for the killers of three children of a local doctor murdered in their house in Nise community in Awka South Local Government Area of the state.

It is said that the yet unidentified murderers climbed the building’s fence, from where they entered the complex to commit the crime, and then left the area unnoticed.

It was established that after killing the children, before leaving the area, they threw their bodies into a Mercedes Benz car parked in the estate.

The spokesman of the state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Monday, adding that the murder occurred late on Saturday evening and the incident was reported to the command late on Sunday evening.

Officials could not immediately determine the reason for the killing, but sources in the area said it may have had to do with alleged disagreements between the deceased’s father and some yet-to-be-disclosed people over a business deal.

One source, who requested anonymity, said: “Three young boys, aged six to two years old, were staying at their parents’ home in Nise when an unidentified person or persons climbed the fence of their property and murdered them in cold blood.

“The children were murdered, their mouths tied, and their bodies were found in pools of blood thrown into their father’s car, parked on the estate.

“Their father, a young man in his thirties, is a local doctor and businessman. He likes to lock the children in the compound when he goes on business with their mother. He would return home to serve them a meal and then return to his business after they closed.

“The victims’ father was reported to have had problems with some unconfirmed people. However, it cannot be determined whether these conflicts led to the death of the three children or not.”

Attempts to speak to the deceased’s father were unsuccessful as he stated he was unable to comment.

Ikenga, reacting to the development, said police officials visited the scene and evacuated the bodies, adding that a manhunt was launched for the suspects based on information gathered from residents of the area.

Ikenga said: “Yes, we received a report from the local Divisional Police Officer that three siblings were murdered by the assailants and their bodies were thrown into a Mercedes Benz car parked at the premises.

“We have taken over the scene and made contact with people at the scene and with the father of the deceased, and the information they provided helps us launch a manhunt for the suspects.

“The attackers entered the complex, killed the victims and threw their bodies into a Mercedes Benz parked in the complex. The incident took place on Saturday and we received the report late on Sunday evening.

“We are trying to unravel the circumstances of the murder, whether it was the result of the father’s negligence or the suspect’s motives, and as soon as we complete the investigation, the report will be made public.”
