A Topeka woman was taken to the hospital after a Wednesday evening crash on I-70 in Wyandotte County

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WIBW) – A Topeka woman was injured Wednesday night when the car she was driving crashed on Interstate 70 in Wyandotte County, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday on westbound I-70, about a mile west of Interstate 435 in Kansas City, Kan.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2015 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on I-70 and was “speeding due to conditions” when the driver lost control of the car, which struck a concrete barrier wall.

Heavy rainfall was reported in the region on Wednesday evening.

The driver, Alandria Johnson, 29, of Topeka, was transported to Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

The patrol said Johnson, who was alone in the car, was wearing a seat belt.
