A man was arrested for painting a swastika at a Nashville library and throwing a urine bottle

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – Police said they arrested a man after he allegedly painted a swastika on a Nashville library and left threatening messages on a church’s voicemail.

Detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department have charged 49-year-old Charles Maguire with vandalism and harassment.

Police said he allegedly vandalized the Green Hills Library on December 14 with a swastika on the glass doors. He later allegedly left harassing voicemails to Green Hills Community Church on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and December 30.

Authorities said Maguire had previously been asked to leave the library ahead of the alleged vandalism and had a history of harassing the church.

Before this round of arrests, police said they had charged Maguire with two counts of vandalism in connection with him pouring a bottle of urine through a crack in a window at the Mental Health Co-operative. He posted $3,000 bail after being charged.

His bail for the latest charges was set at $2,000. His first hearing is on Tuesday.
