Mobile teenager pleads not guilty to murder and assault

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – A mobile teenager pleaded not guilty today to murder and assault in connection with two separate December shootings.

Police say Darrius Bell Jr. shot into a house in the 2700 block McKinney Street December 16. After midnight, officers found a man with a gunshot wound and took him to a local hospital. Later that day, police say Bell and three other people were involved in a shooting Darwood Drive that claimed the life of Jermaine Crawford.

The judge scheduled Bell’s preliminary hearing for Jan. 28.

In addition to murder and first-degree assault, Bell faces charges of first-degree burglary and shooting into an occupied building.
