A lawyer from Delhi, allegedly under the stress of divorce, died by suicide in Mukherjee Nagar

Police said a 45-year-old lawyer from Delhi, who was allegedly under stress due to his ongoing divorce case with his wife, shot himself with a licensed pistol. The victim was identified as Sameer Mehendiratta, a resident of Mukherjee Nagar.

According to the police, Mehendiratta, who died in hospital on Tuesday evening, was living separately from his wife during the ongoing case.

His family maintains that Mehendiratta suffered from depression as a result of the divorce case.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The latest incident occurs a few days later Puneet Khurana, a bakery owner, also based in Delhi, died by suicide in connection with divorce proceedings with his wife. The couple also got into a dispute over the For God’s Cakes bakery, which they co-owned.

According to Khurana’s family, he became “upset” with his wife.

Last month Bengaluru-based technician Atul Subhash died by suicide. The software engineer left behind a 24-page farewell letter in which he accused his wife and her relatives of molestation, and also described in detail his many years of emotional suffering resulting from marital problems.
