Police are closing Four Corners in Glasgow following an investigation into a “serious assault” in the early hours of this morning

Police closed Four Corners in Glasgow following an investigation into a possible serious assault that took place in the early hours of this morning.

Officers said Jamaica Street was closed after reports of a disturbance and possible serious assault around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police arrived at the scene but found no trace of anyone involved in the incident and an investigation is ongoing.

Businesses still operate in the area, including numerous pubs, restaurants and shops.

Police said the access to Midland Street at Jamaica Street is open.

Sergeant David McIntosh said: “We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding as officers work in the area.

“Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious on Jamaica Street in the early hours of this morning or has any information about the incident should call police on 101citing incident 0291 on January 8.

“Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111if you want to remain anonymous.”
