Bengals rookie Jermaine Burton charged with assault

CINCINNATI – Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton is accused of assaulting a woman he was dating, but she declined to press charges – reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The incident took place on the morning of December 30. The Bengals traveled to Pittsburgh for the season finale on Friday, January 3. Burton did not travel with the band.

Reports indicate that a 19-year-old woman called police for help around 8:45 a.m

Burton allegedly chased the woman inside her apartment, damaged her phone, attacked her and even held a knife to her neck and threatened to kill herself.

The woman initially decided to press charges, but changed her mind.

Burton is in accordance with the court’s request of December 23, he was also evicted.

As a rookie, Burton struggled both on and off the field. He finished with just four catches for 107 yards. Even though he was healthy, he was inactive for two different games.
