Electrochem Ghana Limited has condemned the brutal attack on company property by alleged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Armed men attacked and looted Electrochem Ghana Limited on January 9 at around 3am. During the confusion, several workers were injured.

As Director-General Abdul Razak Adam stressed in a statement, the suspected armed attackers caused significant disruption.

The statement shows that armed men stole a large amount of salt products and other office equipment from the warehouse.

“This morning, at approximately 3:00 a.m., our facility at Electrochem Ghana Limited was brutally attacked and looted by armed attackers armed with cutlasses and firearms. The perpetrators, who clearly stated that they were sent from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters, were led by a well-known NDC activist.

“This brazen attack is not an isolated incident, but part of a disturbing trend that poses a serious threat to the safety of our people and the integrity of our operations. The attackers wreaked havoc at our headquarters, stealing essential office supplies from the warehouse and a significant amount of our salt product.”

A salt mining company has expressed concerns about financial losses resulting from the invasion.

“This criminal act has resulted in significant financial loss and profound disruption to our day-to-day operations. “More worryingly, some of our staff were injured during the chaos, highlighting the urgent need for protections and accountability.”

The statement highlighted how such lawlessness threatens the confidence of domestic and foreign investors.

“Such lawlessness undermines the investment climate in our region and threatens the trust we have earned among both local and international investors who have committed significant resources to our efforts.”

Electrochem calls for an investigation and insists that those responsible bear full legal responsibility.
