Police released body camera footage showing a man waving a gun at cars

Dallas police are expected to release more information about an officer-involved shooting earlier this week.

Interim Police Chief Michael Igo will release body camera video of the shooting and provide details about a man in the Far East Dallas neighborhood who He allegedly waved the gun at passing cars.

History:

The shooting happened Tuesday afternoon near Centerville and Shiloh roads, east of White Rock Lake, about a block from Casa View Elementary School.

Police said they received several 911 calls around 3:20 p.m. about a man waving a gun at people nearby and at passing cars.

When officers arrived, police said they gave the man several verbal commands to drop the weapon, but he did not comply. Police say he pointed a gun at officers and they shot him.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

“Officers immediately administered first aid to the suspect until the Dallas Fire Department arrived,” Chief Igo said.

No one else was injured.
