Hoover’s conflict ends with one man shot and the other in custody

There was a shooting at Hoover’s apartment Friday morning, leaving one man injured and another man taken into custody after a brief fight.

Hoover police responded just before 11 a.m. to a 911 call reporting a person shot in the 1900 block of Rime Village Drive.

Police radio communications indicate that dispatchers heard gunshots while calling for help.

Officers went to the complex – The Park at Hoover Apartments – and found the suspect outside the apartment, armed with a rifle, said Capt. Keith Czeskleba.

After a short struggle, the police managed to arrest the suspect.

After detaining the suspect, officers entered the apartment and found the victim – also an adult male – with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Hoover Fire Department medics transported the victim to UAB Hospital. His condition is stable.

Czeskleba said more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
