The man killed in a shooting in Round Rock has been identified

Police identified man shot and killed following officer-involved shooting on Tuesday in Round Rock.

Round rock Police said the suspect was identified as Adam MacLean, 50, of Round Rock.

Per department policy, SWAT Officer Nathan Sosa, who has been with RRPD since 2020, has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

Texas Rangers, with assistance from Round Rock Police, are investigating the shooting.

Background

On January 7, around 9:40 p.m., a 911 caller reported an accident on Westinghouse Road near Texas Crushed Stone.

After leaving the scene, MacLean ran into a wooded area. He was later found using drones.

Once found, MacLean began shooting at the drones and officers.

One of the officers shot MacLean during the encounter. Police also said MacLean suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died on the spot.

No officers were injured.
