Evansville woman arrested after burglary at Whackerz in Posey Co.

POSEY CO., Ind. (WFIE) – The Posey County Sheriff’s Office said an Evansville woman was arrested on Friday on suspicion of theft and burglary.

According to a press release, on Thursday officers found broken glass and several valuable items taken from Whackerz, a company specializing in golf simulations.

During the investigation, a sheriff’s detective viewed surveillance footage and saw a woman breaking a window to gain entry to Whackerz.

The woman, later identified as Jessica Jeanette Guth, entered the business and stole a computer and several sets of golf clubs.

Surveillance footage also shows Guth arriving in a black passenger car, which was later identified by make and model.

On Friday, Posey County officers were dispatched to an unnamed business across the street from Whackerz after the business owner told deputies his truck had been broken into the night before.

After further investigation, the theft was determined to be related to the Whackerz burglary.

Posey County deputies stopped a vehicle on State Route 66 in Wadesville matching the description of the vehicle in the surveillance video.

They managed to locate Whackerz’s stolen computer in the trunk of the vehicle.

While investigating, deputies responded to the residence and located several sets of golf clubs that were identified as stolen from Whackerz.

Guth was transported to the Posey County Sheriff’s Office, where she was interviewed by a Posey County Sheriff’s Office detective and admitted to committing burglary and theft.

She was booked into the Posey County Jail and charged with the following:

  • Burglary (Level 5 Felony)
  • Theft (Level 6 Offense)
  • Theft (misdemeanor)
  • Trespassing (Class A Misdemeanor)
