Diontae Johnson ready for revenge against Steelers from Ravens

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson is excited to play for the Baltimore Ravens and can’t wait to meet his former team.

On Wednesday, Johnson had his first practice with the Ravens since being a player traded to Baltimore from the Carolina Panthers, and then spoke to the media in Baltimore.

“When I found out where I was going, I was excited.” he said. “It still doesn’t seem real to me. It’s a blessing for me to have another chance to return to the AFC North.”

Up in the AFC North, the Steelers and Ravens appear to be headed on a collision course for the division title. The Steelers enter their bye week alone, sitting in first place with a 6-2 record. The Ravens can complete the half-game next weekend. They are currently 5-3. The third-place Bengals are three games down with a 3-5 record.

The two remaining games between the Steeler and Ravens will likely play a big role in the North’s victory. The first of these matchups will take place in Week 11 in Pittsburgh.

“I can’t wait for this game, man,” Johnson said. “But like I said, my focus is on that right now. Whatever game is the most important until we get to that point, I’m going to do what I have to do and just keep performing.”

Johnson played in nine games between the Steelers and Ravens, winning six of them, while in Pittsburgh. He knows what it takes to win competitive games.

The Steelers traded Johnson to the Panthers in March after he fell out of favor with the team’s coaching staff. He seems ready to make them pay for this decision.

“How fiercely we competed against each other,” he said when asked what he remembered from those matches. “Going on the field, making plays and all the attackers. This is an important competitive match. Being on this side now is different. I’m excited.”
