Stamford man identified after fatal front-end loader crash

STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Stamford police say a 64-year-old man died Wednesday after being struck by a front-end loader.

Police said Gary Deleo was helping a customer behind a business on Magee Avenue around 8 a.m. when he was hit.

He was taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The front-end loader was operated by a 28-year-old Stamford resident at the time. News 8 is not identifying him because no charges have been filed against him. Police said he cooperated with the investigation.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident with the assistance of Stamford Police.
