A team of the Rohtak Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday evening arrested a criminal linked to the Golda Brar-Rohit Godara gang after a shootout in Chaudharywas village in Hisar, officials involved in the operation said.

The criminal identified as Yash from Khewra village in Sonepat sustained at least one gunshot injury in the firing while three-four unidentified aides managed to escape due to thick fog and poor visibility.

Rohtak Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Bijarniya said he received information that Yash, who was involved in shooting at two brothers in Bhiwani’s Kharak village last week, was roaming with his aides in Hisar area.

“The STF officers surrounded the car in which the accused were traveling and Yash got out of the car and opened fire on the police officials. His colleagues managed to escape from the scene. The injured attacker is undergoing treatment in hospital,” the SP added.

On January 5, Pradeep, 26, of Kharak Kalan village, said two masked men fired shots at him and his brother Naveen near a temple in the village while they were sitting in a car. Later, the injured were shifted to Bhiwani Civil Hospital from where they were referred to PGIMS in Rohtak.

Gangster injured in exchange of fire with STF in Yamunanagar

Karnal A gangster was injured and another was arrested after he allegedly fired at a team from the Karnal unit of the Special Task Force (STF) in Yamunanagar on Saturday.

The injured person was identified as Arjun, aged around 20, and the other was a 16-year-old minor, both from Mullana block in Ambala district, said Inspector Deepender Rana of STF Karnal unit.

Officials said Arjun was undergoing treatment at the district civil hospital in Yamunanagar under police supervision and the minor was under police protection.

The STF said that a team led by Inspector Deepender tracked the duo from Karnal and after reaching Golanpur village, the accused fired at the unit.

Aman Kumar, DSP, STF said that the team fired in retaliation, which led to a leg injury of one of them, and a total of 15 to 20 shots were fired from both sides.

He said the accused are linked to the recent shootings in Karnal and Karnal City in Gharounda while their links with gangs are being probed.

A senior Yamunanagar police official said several live and empty cartridges and a pistol were recovered from the crime scene.
