Man arrested after video of assault was sent to Calhoun County authorities

CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — An Anniston man has been arrested after authorities say he allegedly assaulted a woman.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said 24-year-old Austin Cochran was charged with violating a protection order and second-degree domestic violence.

The sheriff’s office said it received video of the incident and Cochran was identified as the suspect. The victim shown in the video was also found.

The sheriff’s office said it worked with District Attorney Lynn Hammond to revoke Cochran’s bond from a previous domestic violence case, ensuring he remained in custody.
