6 people died and 8 were injured as a result of a cylinder explosion in a restaurant in a Czech city

Emergency services said on Sunday that six people died when propane and butane cylinders exploded at a restaurant in the northwestern Czech Republic town of Most, causing a fire in the building.

Eight people were injured in the explosion late Saturday evening, and 30 people were evacuated from the restaurant and surrounding buildings, the Czech fire brigade said on the X social media platform.

“According to preliminary information from witnesses, a radiator fell over, causing a fire,” the fire brigade reported.

Interior Minister Vit Rakusan told Czech Radio that the cause was most likely a propane-butane heater falling over in the garden in front of the restaurant.

The fire brigade reported that it rescued a seriously injured restaurant guest who was stuck in the bathroom.

Czech Radio reported that there were about 20 guests in the restaurant at the time of the explosion.
