A man has died in an accident in an Asda car park

Police said the man died following an accident in a supermarket parking lot.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police said they were called to the Asda car park on Dock Road, Gosport, at 17:45 GMT on Saturday.

Police said a blue car was reported to have collided with a pedestrian, a 69-year-old local man who was helped by residents to get out from under the car.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his immediate family was notified of the incident.

The car park was closed on Saturday evening while an investigation was ongoing, but has since reopened.

Police said they wanted to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or had video of the incident.
