The Baltimore Ravens can win the Super Bowl

The Baltimore Ravens routed arch-rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night with a 28-14 victory in the Wild Card round, but that’s not the final goal.

No, that would be the Super Bowl that has eluded them for so long. The Ravens have been a fantastic regular season team for years, but the playoffs are unfortunately a different story, as the media constantly mentions.

After this performance, can the Ravens finally go all the way? Well, that depends on which version of them comes out from here.

If there is a version of the Ravens that dominated the first half in the future, there is no reason why they can’t win the Lombardi Trophy a month from now. Baltimore completely controlled the game for the first 30 minutes, outscoring Pittsburgh 308-59 and having the ball for over 20 minutes. The statistic is truly staggering: The Ravens had 19 first downs in the first half, while the Steelers had a total of 18 first downs.

On the other hand, their play in the second half was much weaker. They immediately allowed the Steelers to go 98 yards in just nine plays, with Van Jefferson serving as the keeper on a 30-yard touchdown. Then, after scoring on their own, they allowed the Steelers to march down the field again, with George Pickens scoring 36 yards to shut down the drive.

The defense was much, much better in the second half of the season, but for a time in the third quarter it looked more like a unit that allowed long passes early on. Fortunately, the Ravens cleaned up their game after that, but they can’t let their Achilles’ heel show again.

For the most part, though, this performance was very encouraging for Baltimore’s title hopes. If the Ravens can stay at the top of their game, they will be a very tough opponent.
