Man arrested after allegedly urinating on the Outram Park MRT escalator railing

SINGAPORE – A 41-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was witnessed urinating on an escalator handrail in Outram Park MRT Station January 10.

IN post on Complaint Singapore group on Facebook January 11this was said by user Stella Kee her friend witnessed a man approaching an escalator handrail and urinating on it near MRT Station Exit 3 at around 10 p.m. on January 10.

She also shared a 3-second video of a man in a black T-shirt and gray pants standing by a railing.

Describing the event as “disturbing”, she said one of the witnesses ran to the nearest passenger service desk to report the entire situation, while the other kept an eye on the man.

However, just as one of the witnesses was about to confront the manhe noticed he was being watched and took the elevator– she added.

“Upon closer inspection, the entire escalator railing was contaminated with his urine,” she said.

In response to inquiries from The Straits Times: the police confirmed the report and stated that they had established the man’s identity.

“Given the serious nature of the act, the man was arrested for disturbing public order,” police said.

In her post, Ms Kee also noted that after reporting the incident, SMRT staff were told her friend that Exit 3 was under the jurisdiction of SBS Transit. Outram Park MRT Station is an interchange on the East-West Line, North-East Line and Thomson-East Coast Line.

Investigations are ongoing.
