Terrace Bay OPP respond to allegedly armed resident

SCHREIBER – OPP are on the scene of an incident involving a possibly armed person at a Terrace Bay residence.

Police received a report of an allegedly armed person barricading himself in the residence around 1:20 a.m. Sunday.

Officers said they had cordoned off the immediate area and were currently working to resolve the situation peacefully.

As part of this effort, the OPP deployed its Emergency Response Team and Canine to support crisis negotiators working to bring the situation to a safe conclusion.

Police said their main priority was to resolve the situation safely with minimal impact to the surrounding community.

Police have clarified that there will be an increased police presence in Terrace Bay for the duration of the incident.

However, the OPP concluded that the situation does not currently pose a threat to the public safety of residents.

Police are asking residents to avoid the area.
