Police say woman ejected from vehicle, found unconscious along I-94

DETROIT, MI – Michigan State Police are investigating a crash in which a woman was ejected from her vehicle and found lying on a highway.

The Detroit Regional Communications Center initially received reports at approximately 4:35 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, regarding a person in the left lane of westbound I-94 near Woodward Avenue.

The caller told dispatchers that the person – later identified as a 27-year-old Detroit woman – had possibly been hit.

An investigation revealed the woman was the driver of a nearby crashed Chevrolet Impala.

Police say the woman was driving on the ramp when she lost control and went off the ramp. It then went down an embankment and landed in the right lane of westbound I-94, police said.

At one point, the woman was ejected and landed on the left shoulder of I-94. Investigators do not believe the woman was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

When officers arrived, the woman was unresponsive and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Michigan State Police at 734-287-5000 or the State Police tip line at 855-MICH-TIP.
