Superheroes push away the hospital to visit the children

SAN ANTONIO – Many law enforcement agencies came together today to bring smiles to children in the hospital.

Members of the San Antonio Police Department, San Antonio Fire Department and SWAT team participated in the 10th annual Julian Andrade Superhero Drop.

Officers dressed as various superheroes and pushed back by North Central Baptist Hospital.

“They push off the roof of Baptist Hospital to comfort sick children. It’s just a great event,” said SAPD’s Nick Soliz.

Children had the opportunity to see superheroes such as Deadpool, Spiderman, Wolverine and many others.

“We always joke and say this event is bigger than Christmas here because we host superheroes every year,” said Jordan Meyer, a nurse at the hospital.

This event is something that law enforcement officers, hospital workers and children can look forward to every Halloween.

“It’s really good that kids have the confidence that they can still participate in all the Halloween festivities. Even if they can’t eat or drink, we provide them with some options like bubbles, Play Doh or some toys so they can still engage,” Meyer said.

This event commemorates Julian Andrade, the son of an SAPD officer who lost his battle with cancer.
