Chief says 1 person dead, 2 injured in shooting at renter’s home in Monroe County

One person died and two others were injured as a result of the shooting that broke out on Sunday in a rented house in the town Monroe County, said the police.

Pocono Mountains Regional Police They claim that four suspects who took part in the incident are in custody. They include 23-year-old Johangel Farfan; Heymar Padilla-Moyetones, 24; Yanny Suarez-Rodriguez, 21; and 21-year-old Friamar Vita-Grimar, most of whom are believed to be from Venezuela.

Farfan, also with ties to Chicago; and Padilla-Moyetones, Suarez-Rodriguez and Vita-Grimar, all with ties to the Bronx, are each charged with 10 counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; five misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance; and other drug crimes.

All but Farfan were arraigned Monday morning before District Judge Michael A. Wolbert, who denied bail. All three were taken to the Monroe County Jail. Arraignment Farfan is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at 1:30 p.m. before District Judge Richard P. White.

Additionally, Vita-Grimar is reportedly under investigation on May 22 for a similar shooting incident in Coolbaugh Township in Monroe County.

Neither defendant had attorney information immediately available in court records Monday afternoon.

The two injured victims were Farfan and a 25-year-old man, also from Venezuela. Police reported that both people are currently in stable condition.

The Monroe County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the deceased.

Police Chief Chris Wagner said the incident happened Sunday at 4:40 p.m. at a rental property in the 1300 block of Clover Road in Long Pond. According to police, investigators were called in connection with the couple’s gunshot wounds.

The officers arrived at the scene and found the door to the house ajar. Wagner said a man injured in the shooting was found dead inside. The rest of the house was empty, the chief said.

At the same time, investigators learned of a home invasion that had occurred in the area of ​​Mohegan Court in Long Pond – near Clover Road – according to police. Officers discovered an “attempted entry,” Wagner said.

Investigators then followed fresh footprints in the snow and encountered a second entry attempt. Officers continued the pursuit and found a third house where the real entry was located, police added.

Wagner said two of the four suspects were found at that home and arrested. He added that both people involved were linked to the Clover Road incident and were traveling from that home.

As a result of the search warrant in the area of ​​Clover Road, the following items were seized: weapons and various calibers; various bullets and shells; quantities of drugs; According to police, and drug paraphernalia consistent with open drug sales at the home.

Shooting and burglary cases are in the early stages of investigation by the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office; Pocono Mountains Regional Police; Pennsylvania State Police; and the Monroe County Coroner’s Office. Stroud Regional Police are also helping; Police from the city of Bethlehem; and Fountain Hill Police.

Wagner said it was believed the event was advertised by tenants and involved a large number of partygoers both inside and outside the home. Police said that at some point in the early evening there was an argument and shooting.
