Ohio State is seeking to intervene in Brown’s plans to transfer to Brook Park

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – State Attorney General Dave Yost wants to get involved in Browns’ Model Law lawsuit with the city, according to federal court documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

19 News just obtained a lawsuit in which the state says the team’s understanding of state statute is “erroneous.”

The city vowed to use the Model Law to stop the Browns from moving to Brook Park.

The law requires teams receiving taxpayer money to give at least six months’ notice of departure… or for someone else to have a chance to buy the team.

In the lawsuit, Yost asks the judge to allow the state, not just the city, to participate in the trial.
