Police called a secondary school in Glasgow after two strangers were allowed into the building

An investigation has been launched after two strangers entered a school in Glasgow during classes.

Police were called to Cleveden Secondary School on Monday morning after two people were found to have been in the building for a “very short period”.

It is believed that the student allowed individuals into the building after the morning break.

The school has written to parents urging them to remind children “the importance of building safety” while police investigate anti-social behavior.

In an email seen by STV News, the school wrote: ‘We will be reminding our students of the importance of building safety and I would be very grateful if you could discuss this issue with your child. Stress to them the importance of keeping our building safe.

“In line with national school safety guidelines, all our external doors are closed. However, they can of course be opened from the inside, and we believe this was the case today.

“No damage occurred today. However, we will be talking to all students tomorrow about the potential seriousness of an incident such as this, and your support on this matter would be greatly appreciated.”

Police Scotland confirmed an investigation into the circumstances was ongoing.

A spokesman said: “At around 11.30am on Monday, January 13, we received a report of anti-social behavior by young people in the Cleveden Road area of Glasgow.

“Officers attended the scene and no incidents occurred. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

Glasgow City Council confirmed the incident had occurred and said school staff should also remain vigilant.

A spokeswoman for the local authority said: “Everyone at the school is unharmed and our schools take school building safety very seriously.

“All school doors are fitted with security measures and young people are reminded to open doors to strangers.

“The school informed parents about the incident and assured them that everyone was safe.

“The police have been contacted.”
