The police claim that there are no criminal reasons for the sisters’ disappearance

Police said there was no indication of a crime in connection with the disappearance of two sisters who have been missing for a week.

The officers have no idea what happened to Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, but there is no indication that third parties were involved in the incident.

The sisters, both aged 32, were last seen on CCTV in Market Street, Victoria Bridge, Aberdeen, at around 2.12am on Tuesday, January 7.

They crossed the bridge and turned right onto the path next to the River Dee, heading towards Aberdeen Boat Club.

One theory being considered by police is that they somehow got into the water, with search efforts focusing on the River Dee and surrounding areas.

Chief Superintendent David Howieson said: “We try to remain open about the wider circumstances.

“We know that the sisters’ behavior on the morning they disappeared was very inappropriate.

“We really don’t understand why they apparently left their home address and made a relatively straight route to this location before they ran out of CCTV footage.

“One of our theories has to be that they entered the water for unknown reasons, which is why so much of our search is focused on the river, its shores and the harbor itself, but we do not rule out that the fact that they may have left the area in a way that we haven’t identified yet.

He stated that there was nothing suspicious in connection with the sisters’ disappearance.

He said: “We remain open but the investigation is ongoing for seven days and a huge number of inquiries have been carried out and at the moment we have found nothing to indicate criminality or suspicious circumstances.

“Maybe they got hurt. This must be a theory in terms of access to the river. However, we have no indication that a third party was involved.

He said there was no indication that the sisters had any mental or other problems that could begin to explain what happened.

During the investigation, it turned out that they planned to move out of the rented apartment.

Howieson said: “The person they are renting from has received a signal that they are concerned that they have vacated the property and are signaling their intention to move.

“So a search of the apartment was carried out and the circumstances found raised doubts about their whereabouts, which was important to the police at the time.”

On Tuesday, police carried out an early morning operation in which the sisters went missing a week after their disappearance.

Officers spoke to pedestrians and drivers in the area to shed more light on their movements.

An extensive search was carried out in recent days, involving a police helicopter, a dog unit and a naval unit.

Police said they were focusing on the River Dee as there was no evidence the women had left the immediate area.

Police divers could be seen in the water at Aberdeen Harbor on Tuesday as officers continue to review CCTV footage and carry out house-to-house inquiries.

The women, who are described as white, slim with long brown hair, are part of a set of triplets and are from Hungary.

Police Scotland said they had the support of their country’s police, who were working with the wider family.

Howieson said police were “very concerned” about the sisters and urged anyone with information about their whereabouts to contact police.

On Monday, the sisters’ family issued a statement in which they asked anyone who had any information that could help in the search to come forward.

“This has been a very disturbing and distressing time for our family,” the statement read.

“We are really worried about Eliza and Henrietta and all we want is for them to be found.

“If you believe you may have any information that could assist police in locating Eliza and Henrietta, please provide it as soon as possible.

“We are grateful for all the support our family has received over the last few days and would like our privacy to be respected during this time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0735 of January 7.
