The Indian cricket board has reportedly adopted new rules following the Men in Blue’s recent dismal performance in Test cricket, barring cricket families from accompanying them on tours in a bid to ensure better performance.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took the decision after India suffered a heavy defeat against the Kiwis at home 0-3 and also lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia 1-3.

According to reports, the BCCI took the decision after a review meeting held in Mumbai on Saturday, which was attended by board officials, head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma. Times of Hindustan.

The board has reintroduced a rule that was scrapped during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to an Indian report. It said cricketers’ wives and families would not be allowed to travel on tours.

Board officials believe that the families accompanying players, especially on international tours, affect their performance.

The new rules state that family members will only be able to stay at the stadium for two weeks if the tournament lasts longer than 45 days. For shorter trips, they will be able to stay for a week.

Apart from this, cricket authorities have also restricted players from traveling separately. “With team unity in mind, all players will now travel exclusively on the team bus. No matter how big the player is, he will not be able to travel separately,” the report reads.
