Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg will attend Trump’s inauguration

Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg will be present at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, according to an official involved in planning the event.

They will feature prominently during the ceremony, sitting together at the podium with other notable guests, including Trump’s Cabinet nominees and elected officials.

All three tech titans tried to curry favor with Trump last year, led by Musk, who donated more than a quarter of a billion dollars in campaign funds to help elect Trump. CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and co-chair of a new advisory body to the Trump administration called DOGE — Musk has often stood by Trump since endorsing him in the presidential election in July.

Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, this month made changes to his lobbying staff and him content moderation rules adapt to a future Republican administration. Meta also donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund.

Bezos, Amazon’s founder and CEO, decided last fall that The Washington Post, which he owns, would not support in the presidential race, overriding opinion panels that wanted to support Vice President Kamala Harris. Amazon also contributed $1 million for Trump’s inaugural fund.

The three men are among the richest people in the world, with their fortunes based on the technology boom of the last two decades. According to the ranking, Musk is in first place, Bezos is in second place, and Zuckerberg is in third place. Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Their combined net worth: $885 billion as of Monday, according to Bloomberg.

NBC News has reached out to representatives for Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg about their attendance. A representative for Meta declined to comment. The others did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

All three men have supported Democrats and Republicans over the years, according to federal records.

Tech leaders have a significant amount to lose in Trump’s second term, not only because of potential changes in tax and trade policy, but also because of issues specific to their businesses.

Meta there is a possible antitrust lawsuit back in April amid allegations from the Federal Trade Commission that it was acting illegally to maintain a monopoly on personal social networks. Amazon is a prime federal contractor through its cloud computing business, which has been source of conflict with Trump during his first term. SpaceX is a prime federal contractor through rocket launches and internet service company, Starlink.

Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos often compete with each other in the technology industry, vying for influence on topics such as artificial intelligence, space exploration and media.

Bezos is trying to compete with Musk’s dominance in rocket launches with his space company Blue Origin, albeit Blue Origin on Monday canceled his inaugural launch attempt.

Zuckerberg and Musk are long-time rivals in artificial intelligence research, and each of them is investing billions of dollars in new artificial intelligence models. In 2022, Musk also started competing with Zuckerberg in social media by purchasing X, which was then Twitter.

Bezos and Zuckerberg are competing in a duel advertising and trading companies Amazon and Meta.
