Gainesville man arrested after reported pursuit and collision with patrol vehicle

A Gainesville man was arrested Monday after he allegedly drove into and crashed into a patrol vehicle.

Officers say they tried to stop 17-year-old Toby Price’s Honda Civic on Thompson Bridge Road near Enota Avenue on Sunday for failure to maintain lane.

Price reportedly refused to stop and drove through the parking lot before heading back north on Thompson Bridge Road.

Officials say Price passed vehicles at the Walmart intersection and ran a red light. The investigation revealed he then turned onto Sandridge Court, then made a U-turn and returned to Thompson Bridge Road, where he ran a red light and continued on Linwood Drive.

Price made another U-turn at the end of Linwood and allegedly drove into a pursuing patrol vehicle.

The deputy attempted to drive away, but Price’s car struck the deputy’s bumper.

Price fell into a ditch and then fled on foot into nearby woods.

A K-9 team searched for Price but did not find him on Sunday.

That’s when deputies arrested Price on Monday around 2 p.m. at a residence on East Ridge Road. They also arrested 19-year-old Destiny Marie Prine of Gainesville for allegedly giving deputies false information about his whereabouts.

Officers eventually found Price hiding in a tin outbuilding behind the house. Officials say Prine helped Price hide in the building.

The price was charged for numerous crimes, including:

  • Assault with particular cruelty on an officer – a crime

  • Escape/attempt to elude an officer – a crime

  • Interference with government property – a crime

  • Failure to stop in the event of an accident causing damage – an offense

  • Dangerous driving – offence

  • Two cases of failure to comply with road traffic control devices – offenses

  • Failure to keep lane – offense

  • Lack of driving license – offense

Price remains in the Hall County Jail where he remains without bond.
